What should new immigrants expect in their first month in Auckland? Any tips?

Get your IRD number ASAP, open a bank account (ASB or ANZ are popular), get an AT HOP card for buses/trains, and join local Facebook community groups. The first month is the hardest but it gets better!

Also register with a GP early — some clinics have long waiting lists. And get your NZ drivers license sorted if you plan to drive — your overseas one is valid for 12 months.
