When did the maori polynesians come to New Zealand?

answ2. The earliest archaeological evidence in New Zealand dates from two sites in the South Island, Wairau Bar, and the Shag River (Waihemo) mouth. Both date from the 1300s.There may have been earlier sites in the North Island, but they are yet to be found. They could have been destroyed by erosion or volcanic activity, or maybe they just werent there.
