You need to have an excellent academic track record, professional experience is not required but preferred, a good quality Research Proposal which matches with the Research Area and Interest of the Supervisors in New Zealand, Research Potential evidenced by publishing in Peer reviewed Journals of good impact factors, logical educational progression to a Phd program, string letters of recommendation from Professional and Academic references, etc. This list is not exhaustive by nature and depends largely on the case.
