Is lamb from New Zealand halal? Is all NZ meat halal?

Not all NZ meat is halal. NZ is one of the world's largest halal meat exporters, but that's for export — domestic retail is a mix. Supermarket lamb is generally NOT halal unless specifically labelled. For guaranteed halal meat, buy from halal butchers (Otahuhu, Mangere, Sandringham have many). Silver Fern Farms and Alliance Group produce halal-certified meat for export, but check labels in-store. FIANZ certification is the NZ standard.
