Study the official NZ Road Code at nzta.govt.nz/roadcode — it's free online. The theory test has 35 multiple choice questions, you need 32 correct to pass. Cost is $46.40. Book at any AA or VTNZ centre. Practice tests at drivingtests.co.nz (free). Key differences from other countries: give way to your right at roundabouts, speed limit is 100km/h on open roads and 50km/h in towns. Your overseas licence is valid for 12 months — after that you must convert it.
